Moving Shorts: A DVD compilation with online teaching guide
BFI Education
'This is an excellent package, and at fifty quid, an absolute bargain - hats off to the BFI!' Steven Harlow, MEA newsletter
The power of film to capture the attention and interest of pupils is incontestable. But using films in the English classroom can offer far more than a way of engaging disaffected students. Films offer a rich and illuminating focus of study, which can enhance students' grasp of a wide range of literary concepts as well as promoting their media literacy.
This pack consists of a DVD and a teaching guide. The DVD includes a carefully selected collection of 10 films, each between 3 and 10 minutes long suitable for students, aged 12 and over. These films are ideal for teaching a range of skills and concepts relevant to the media component of the English curriculum, but also to developing speaking, listening, drama and writing skills and concepts.
The teaching guide, has been developed by Mark Reid, Head of Education at the BFI, and practicing teachers. It includes a range of resources to support classroom work with the films.
